The conference lasted from March 27 to 31 and included lectures, seminars, and workshops relating to self-determination, ethnic pride, social revolution, nationalism, and cultural identity. Approximately 1,500 people attended the conference, many of whom were members of the Brown Berets, the Mexican American Youth Association (MAYA), the Young Lords, and United Mexican-American Students (UMAS). This statement of the Denver conference encompassed the overall goals of why the conference was held.
