En 1969, Rodolfo “Corky” Gonzales y Crusade for Justice organizaron y patrocinaron la primera conferencia anual, Chicano Youth Liberation Conference en Denver, Colorado. In 1969, Rodolfo “Corky” Gonzales and the Crusade for Justice organized and sponsored the first annual Chicano Youth Liberation Conference in Denver, Colorado. The conference lasted from March 27 to 31 and included lectures, seminars, and workshops relating to self-determination, ethnic pride, social revolution, nationalism, and cultural identity. Approximately 1500 people attended the conference, many of whom were members of the Brown Berets, the Mexican American Youth Association (MAYA), the Young Lords, and United Mexican-American Students (UMAS). The conference produced El Plan Espiritual de Aztlan, a document calling for Chicano self-determination.
